Day 170

Yesterday I mentioned we're trying (well, I'm trying) to get this family to eat better. Which means excluding as much animal products as possible (can't entirely, because when the kids go to their Dad's, they eat lots of meat....if we omit it completely, they'll get too sick at their Dad's). We made two batches of the vegan homemade butter substitute. One sweet, one savory. I posted the sweet yesterday, this one is the savory. A little too nutty (due to the tahini ingredient), but I can tweak it a bit. Still pretty good, though.

Day 169

Trying to eat healthier with less animal products, we made some homemade vegan butter substitute for Home Ec. This one was the "sweet", spread on some of the Friendship Bread we made. It's pretty good. A little too nutty, so I have to adjust it some, but still good.

Day 167

Ever hear of Friendship Bread? It's like Baker's Chain Mail. lol One person prepares the starter and continues building on it, and before they finish adding all of the ingredients, they set aside four starters, three to send to three friends and one to keep for themself. And it continues so on and so forth. I've never done this before, but I assume that the longer the starter continues, the "sourer" it gets, like a sourdough. I'm not sure though, so don't quote me on that.

Ours turned out pretty good. Not AS good as I'd expected, but still good. Next time, though, I'm leaving out the nutmeg.

Day 166

Part of the reason I love Autumn so much more than the other seasons (though each of them do have their wonderful qualities to love) is because I LOVE hot soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. There is just something so comforting about a cup of hot soup and a grilled cheese sandwich. YUM YUM YUM!!

Tonight was split pea soup. And it was DE-LISH!

Day 162

We watched Horton Hears a Who tonight for Family Night. Afterwards, the boys decided to dance away to the closing credits. And I got a picture before they noticed!

Day 161

Christopher lost his two remaining baby teeth. Well, he lost one of them a few months back. The LAST one he lost tonight.

Goodbye, Baby!
